Sawdust. Sawdust Everywhere.

All of my wood pieces have officially been cut and sanded. It took a lot less time than I originally thought, which has made me highly suspicious.

Ideally, I would get started painting each piece like, right now. But I have had a few problems with woodbits going missing because of the band saw, and since I would rather like to have as flat of a surface as possible, I want to figure out if I can fix this problem before I begin painting. Here are pictures of what I am talking about:

If there is not way to fix this without me having to go buy, cut and sand more wood, it's not that big of a deal. One, because it didn't happen in too many places, so buying one more piece of plywood and re-cutting these shapes would not be that problematic. Actually, I may just do that because looking at these pieces now, especially the worst one, those little missing bits really, really bother me.

So I suppose that my mission for today is to go out and get another piece of plywood, as well as paint and/or gesso. I just don't know if regular latex house paint would be best, or if it would be better to get gesso for these pieces. Does it even matter? I suppose I should just make an arbitrary decision but I aggressively don't want to ruin everything.

UPDATE: I just asked Chinn and she said that gesso will work well, so I'm going with it. Excellent.

So my mission for the next 48 hours: Legally acquire more wood and also gesso. Cut and sand if you don't mind doing it in the sculpture studio during open hours when Craig is not there. Then paint. Which is important because I need to start printing pretty soon.

[Insert panicked noises here]
