Frist Workshop in Longmont

Getting away from the studio to find a new home at someone else's studio was exactly what my work needed. I fell in love with Alix (Alix Christian, http://www.alixchristian.com/) and her space. I learned a wide range of new techniques and was able to get a different perspective on my concepts and ideas. I truly connected with Alix and decided that one day was not long enough. I found great ways to incorporate my memories into the wax without loosing too much of the photo. I also learned a lot practical things such as the proper way to mount the photos before placing the wax upon them.

One of my favorite things about Alix's studio is how clean it is. Her space as well as her tools are perfect. I immediately realized so much of my work was a direct reflection of the space and tools I had been allowing myself to work with. I have found that I appreciate this clean feeling and it is reflecting in a more minimalistic way through my pieces.

Here is the work that came out of that day
each one is a small 6X6 playing with different techniques that I wish to use in my final pieces of objects made from and of my grandfather.
The first piece is a better reflection of the direction I am going to move in with my work
The second is my first attempt at playing with different kinds of text
The third is playing with texture and line and probably a direction I will be moving away from for my final body of work
