This One

This quarter was wild

I wasn't the most dedicated or focused kid. No surprises there. It's hard to defend fuck-ups when my work is about getting fucked up. If you saw me in the studio and asked me where I was, I'd never say "here". I was distracted constantly and anxious. It still kinda feels like that. My ma had brain surgery 3 weeks ago, I cracked a rib, and my girl isn't really my girl anymore. These last 3 prints I made were about those experiences, trying to work out some of the personal shit that builds up when you wax contemplative pre-graduation. It's a weird head-space.

Because I'm reminiscing, here was the best of it: I got to throw art up in a REAL gallery. That was a trip. Composite looks GREAT and I am very proud to have worked with the talented '14ers, gallery assistants, and even the next BFA class (who are gonna try to top us to no avail. BANG!) Seeing points of intersection and dialogue between artists in our bubble was exciting (Here's to ya, Mikaela!). Never a dull crit when helmed by Sarah G and never a student who didn't feel like Deborah's own child at some point while pulling a stroke.

May is over and I'm amped! I'm ready to move out East and get some art going. I'd like to thank the Academy, frosted mylar, the NEW Kaladi Curator and my successor, Conor Dowdle, and of course the FACULTY. I'm sure you've all been described as "immensely talented" before, so I'll call you "bomb".
