Post-show Wrap-up

Since the opening of Composite, I have been rather busy... Pedro Barrios, one of the owners of SvperOrdinary Gallery in Denver requested a studio visit with me 2 weeks before it was set to open. He was very impressed with my work and has since kept a close connection with me. In fact, pedro stopped by the show with 3 other members of the gallery that night. I have a meeting with him this week to discuss my "future plans" so wish me luck!
I have also gained a connection down in Chicago at the Field Museum with a girl who works in the Ornithology department. She has been providing me photographs of some of the specimens in the collection for use in some future paintings. I'm hoping that some of these museum contacts may possibly help me to gain a career as a scientific illustrator somewhere down the road. But, it all begins NOW!
The door opens to the road of life. I'm packed and all ready to go thanks to each and every one of you. Whether small or large, each of you have played a significant role in my practices as an artist. I thank DU most for the ability to aid me in harboring connections with other creatives and for teaching me how to spark those connections with others. I've noticed that people are always happy to help out with your work as long as you are willing to ask. I've had the chance to work with some of the most fascinating people, including Ed Stein, cartoonist of the former Rocky Mountain News (and now Denver Post), preparing comics for print my sophomore and junior year. I opened my very first solo show in April 2013, in conjunction with Kimberly Carbonari, to great success and positivity. I've met with artists and educators who helped to give me priceless information about art, life, and beyond - including Hung Liu, who I continue to remain very close friends with (and who is also the proud owner of one of my original drawings). I have fortified a strong friendship and business relationship with the Denver Museum of Nature and Science's zoology department, as well as members of the Chicago Field Museum's department of Ornithology... It's been fantastic! I cannot wait to see what this next year has in store. Thank you thank you!!!
